Short of physically sending your candle to a lab for analysis, the best way to confirm that your candle is safe is to ask the manufacturer.  They know better than anyone the products and processes used in creating your candle, and should be dedicated to producing a safe product.

We may have already done this for you.  We've asked a number of candle makers the same questions you would ask about the safety of their product.  Those that attest to their use of safe products and processes are qualified to display a personalized Candle-Safety.Org "We Checked" logo - look for it before you buy.

To help candle makers choose only safe products for their candles, we've also asked a number of suppliers about the safety and quality of the products they supply.

What are we asking them?

  • Are lead wicks used?

  • Is fragrance specifically designed for use in candles?

  • Is coloring specifically designed for use in candles?

  • Have all formulas been thoroughly tested?

  • Are containers specifically designed for use in candlemaking?

If you see a candle maker or supplier with the "We Checked" logo, you can rest assured that they have answered these questions satisfactorily.

CANDLE-SAFETY.ORG DOES NOT PHYSICALLY TEST, APPROVE, OR ENDORSE INDIVIDUAL CANDLES OR CANDLE PRODUCTS - WE INQUIRE AS TO THE USE OF SAFE PRODUCTS / PROCESSES USED IN THEIR PRODUCTION.

Candle-Safety.Org does not test individual candles for safety.  Use of the "We Checked" logo simply  indicates that a candle producer/supplier has attested to their use of products/processes as listed on our questionnaire.  Safety responsibilities remain entirely with candle producers and/or candle product suppliers.
